Oho Projects

Real Stories from from Our Community.

As discussed in the problem description, locals are migrating from the rural areas of Georgia for better opportunities.  Here are some stories of our community members willing to live in Sachkhere (the project area) and do economic activity locally.

Ekaterine, 36

Originally from the Oho Cuisine project area, I live and work in Essen. Ekaterine is a junior doctor now but is passing exams to become a senior doctor. She wishes to develop her polyclinic in Sachkhere Municipality and a personalized medicine project. Oho Cuisine will support Ekaterine financially in achieving her goals.

Elene, 25

After earning her degree in interior design in London, Elene stood at a crossroads. She could stay in the bustling city, surrounded by endless opportunities, or return to her roots in Sachkhere—a place steeped in tradition but yearning for revitalization. Elene chose home. When Oho Cuisine invited her to design the interiors of its community-focused spaces and take on the role of events manager, she saw more than a job—she saw a chance to give back. Elene knew she could bring her fresh ideas and global perspective to the project, weaving her creative expertise with the cultural richness of her hometown. Elene is excited as she prepares for the summer season, where she'll bring her vision to life. From crafting immersive events celebrating Georgian heritage to creating designs honoring the region's natural beauty, Elene is ready to inspire locals and visitors alike. By supporting Oho Cuisine, you're not just funding a project—you're empowering young talents like Elene to transform their communities while staying true to their roots. Together, we can create a space where tradition meets innovation and where individuals like Elene can thrive.

Teona's Story: A Journey of Resilience and Community Renewal

In 2017, my life took an unexpected turn when I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke that left me with severe side hemiplegia. Despite the physical and emotional challenges, I found strength in my work with Adjara Group, a company I've been dedicated to for over 11 years, continuing to work remotely after my recovery. Yet, my journey was far from complete—I wanted to give back. Moving back to my hometown village of Skhvitori with my 4-year-old daughter and my two grandparents, I was met with the realities of rural life: limited opportunities, high unemployment, and a lack of spaces for youth and community connection. Determined to make a difference, I combined my resilience with a vision for community growth. With the help of Oho Cuisine team member David Legrand, I created high-quality MVPs for Chestnut Flour, Mulberry Syrup, and Buckthorn Juice, and I'm now developing gluten-free flour and Leek Pkhali products. These are more than just products—they're seeds of sustainable economic opportunities for our region. Beyond product development, I've built a community. I created a Facebook group for local women, where I share knowledge about brain health, self-care, and well-being. I also teach English online for free to empower local women with new skills. These efforts, though impactful, have highlighted the urgent need for a physical hub—a place where the community can come together to learn, grow, and thrive. Using my land, garage, and financial resources, I've laid the foundation for Oho Cuisine, a project beyond food. It's a community hub that addresses our region's needs while respecting nature and empowering people. As a mother, a person with limited physical abilities, and a proud resident of Skhvitori, I believe in the transformative power of this project, and I need your help. We can make Oho Cuisine a reality—a place where resilience, community, and nature come together to create a brighter future.
